Soil Type

Moderately fertile well drained soil.

For best results, plant in fertile, well-drained soil, positioned in a sunny area of the garden. Soak your roots in a bucket of water a few hours before planting, to ensure it soaks up plenty of moisture.
Before planting in its final position, pot up in a small nursery pot and allow it to grow. You can start thinking about planting it outdoors once all danger of frost has passed and it has grown a small green shoot. Position the roots pointing downward, in a hole that's wider than it is deep. Cover well and water.
